Since it first arrived in the 1970 model year as the Datsun 240Z, the Nissan Z has been an “aspirational” sports car, with various inline and then V-6 engines over the years.

And just six model years later the 370Z appeared, with a more powerful engine, a shorter wheelbase, wider overall width, and 2.7-inch cut in overall length, as well as a near-premium interior. Although the 370Z is now in its ninth model year, this rear-drive coupe still offers some driving thrills, and it can be a strong value compared with pricier sports cars. Nissan surpassed the Z a decade ago with its halo-model GT-R, which costs three times as much, but the automaker appears to be in no hurry to replace or discontinue this icon.
